Christus resurrexit! Resurrexit vere! Alleluia!
You must have boundless faith in the divine goodness, for the victory is absolutely certain. Padre Pio
Our hearts are filled with Paschal Joy this Sunday. We celebrate today the triumphant Resurrection of Our Lord from the dead.
These past few days over the Sacred Triduum we prayed together the beautiful liturgies of the Church, recalling the sufferings of Christ leading up to these joyful days. We recalled the Institution of the Eucharist and the Priesthood of Jesus; we recalled the Lord’s sufferings on Good Friday and waited in expectant joy for the coming of Christ in the Solemn Easter Vigil, when we heard the history of our salvation in the readings of the vigil.
Just as we are to be united to the Lord in His sufferings; we must remember to be united to Him in His glory. Saint Paul says to the Corinthians, “And if Christ be not risen again, your faith is vain, for you are yet in your sins. Then they also that are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.” (I Cor. 15)
We as people of faith live in the glory of the Resurrection. This is our life and hope. We believe with hope and faith that Jesus has died for sins and has conquered darkness. The world around us is still under great suffering and darkness, but we have the light of the Resurrection in our hearts through our attachment to Jesus in the Sacraments, especially the Holy Eucharist.
Let us be filled with joy in these coming days of Easter. May our Lord, under the power of the Holy Spirit, fill our hearts with a joyful faith as we work together to bring about the Gospel in our parish family and those we serve in the love of Christ.
Therefore, if you have risen with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. Mind the things that are above, not the things that are upon the earth. For you are dead and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ shall appear, who is your life, then you also shall appear with Him in glory. Colossians 3:1-4
God bless you and your families with Easter Joy!
